I’m a senior software engineer and technical lead with over 18 years of experience, specialising in Elixir/Phoenix and Rust. I deliver robust, scalable systems, and have extensive experience working asynchronously and autonomously across distributed environments. I am passionate about growing people alongside great software.
I have been using Elixir professionally for close to a decade. I first started FP with FRP and Elm on the front-end, having become tired of bug-ridden UIs in classical JavaScript. My first production app with Elixir was a CI/CD tool that connected to Rust bare-metal workers via websockets and controlled LXC to streamline QA testing and test/prod deployments. Elixir/Phoenix was a great fit for the dashboard, and I also used Drab (a precursor to LiveView) to stream status updates and logs.
Since then I’ve built digital pen-and-paper games that leaned heavily on OTP to manage state, board game convention management, invoice systems, an EV charging system and more with Elixir. My most recent professional work uses Elixir with a Rust NIF for communicating with microcontrollers (running Rust/Embassy) so shared messages used the same format.
