Hi! Hope you hire me! (jk, do whatever you like) Functional programming (using Elixir) was the course I got the highest score during university. I just fell in love with its cleanness and the way it enforced a certain stepwise thought-process for problem solving. Despite my early love, I decided to continue with Java. Two an a half years have eventually confirmed that Java is more of a metaphysical debate trying to categorize virtual constructs of data instead of operating directly on it. Somehow, the apparent beauty of polymorphism and encapsulation just backfires in design time. And time will always find an exception to the way you modelled your business logic, which proves Java will never be “correct”. (Who will ever be able to perfectly map reality’s objects … as code?) I got convinced to search for a functional programming language job afer listening to Rich Hickey’s “Simple made easy” conference speach. DIjsktra once stated “Complexity sells better”. Hickey said “Simplicity is a choice”. Niklas chooses simplicity.
