Despite my start in Graphic Design, I’m a backen developer for over 15 years, initially working with Ruby (on Rails) but for the past 9 years, mostly Erlang and Elixir. I’ve worked for a mobile gaming company and built scalable, reliable and efficient backends, not only for the games but also a custom business intelligence backend based on FreeBSD, Kafka and Erlang. After that I’ve worked for an IT Consulting, broadening my experiences in various projects. The past five years I was the senior backend and infrastructure engineer for a small startup - using mostly Elixir (w. Phoenix) and PostgreSQL.
While I was still studying graphics design, I already managed the faculties network, wifi and server infrastructure and to this day do occasional it/network consulting jobs.
As a former graphics and then later web designer I’m no foreigner to the frontend world either. I’ve spent a lot of time with html, css and javascript and am nerd enough to be somehow glad that I met Bert Bos once after inviting him to a conference ;)
Long story short, I’ve seen a lot, I’ve done a lot and I shared a lot - and I’d love to continue doing so, especially when it’s for a deserving cause.
